Teachers’ Perceptions on BA First-Year Compulsory English Syllabus and the Textbooks in Tribhuvan University

Syllabus designers usually ignore the views and perceptions of teachers while constructing courses: but they need to explore analyse teachers’ towards syllabus textbooks make course more advance. The purpose research study explores on BA first year compulsory English prescribed in Tribhuvan University. This aims investigate how has viewed from perspectives teaching learning language communicative skills, assessed basis components design. deployed qualitative approach through interviews inquiry required information selected teachers; four who have taught were interviewed with purposive sampling constituent campuses TU Kathmandu Valley. major findings this as follows design: First, analysis needs students targeted job markets not considered. Second, included only writing critical essays reading ignored other writings skills like listening, speaking, skills. Third, agreed that never consulted faculty reconstructing syllabus. Fourth, contents designed textbooks. Fifth, pedagogies suggested, expected it. They suggested should bridge gap between schooling education education, address real life target professional needs. Based these findings, researchers can extend re-examine study, will incorporate future Although such seems money time consuming, later it be rewarding after identifying syllabus’s effect.
